Bountiful Beets

Rocky River Farms will be at all three locations this month offering their beets from their massive harvest! Beets are packed with essential vitamins, minerals and plant compounds, some of which have medicinal properties. What's more, they are delicious and easy to add to your diet.

End of Season for
Meadow Lake

With Fall now in full swing the Meadow Lake market will be closing for the season. The last market day for Meadow Lake will be Sunday, November 8th, 2020.

The Wednesday market at Memorial Park and Saturday market at Fairview Elementary operate year round to provide our community and your family with fresh produce.

Plenty of Peaches

All three market locations now have vendors offering a wide variety of peaches including Red Haven, Biscoe, and Contender. Enjoy them at their peak of sweetness right before fall. Now would be the perfect time to stock up for canning so you can enjoy this sweet treat all winter long!

Farmers Markets Matter

Farmers markets are more than just a place to find fresh, local food. Across the country, evidence shows farmers markets are significantly improving the health and well-beging for their community, economy, and environment. As support for farmers markets continue to grow, so will the ways their communities prosper.

Stimulate Local Encomonies

Growers selling locally create 13 full time farm operator jobs per $1 million in revenue earned. Those that do not sell locally create 3.

Preserve America’s Rural Livelihoods and Farmland

Farmers markets provide one of the only low-barrier entry points for beginning farmers, allowing them to start small, test the market, and grow their businesses.

Increase Access to Fresh, Nutritious Food

Several studies have found lower prices for conventional and organic produce at farmers markets than at supermarkets. Due to this and other factors, 52% more SNAP households shop at farmers markets and from direct marketing farmers today than in 2011.
